Rite Aid Coupon Policy

The policy is really long, you can print the complete policy here for your binder.

Here are the key points:

Acceptance Guidelines
  • No expired coupons
  • No overage given, value of coupon will be adjusted to price of item.

BOGO
  • Rite Aid DOES accept BOGO coupons combined with BOGO sales, rendering both items FREE (customer responsible for applicable taxes)
  • Rite Aid DOES accept 2 coupons for the purchase of two items in a BOGO sale
Internet Printable Coupons
  • Rite Aid DOES accept printable coupons up to $5.00. Printable coupons with the Rite Aid logo are not considered printables and the $5.00 limit does not apply
Stacking Coupons
  • Rite Aid Manufacturer coupons generally appear in our weekly circular, on our website and are sent to customers via email. These coupons are labeled "manufacturer coupon" and have a UPC that begins with "49."
  • Rite Aid store coupons are labeled "Valuable Coupon" and have a UPC that begins with "48." You will find these in the store circular or the Rite Aid website.
  • You can stack one Rite Aid store coupon, one Rite Aid manufacturer coupon, AND one manufacturer coupon (starts with 5) for one item.
+UP Coupons (register rewards)
  • +UP Reward coupons are special coupons earned by a customer in a prior purchase that can be used for any non-prescription purchase with a small number of exclusions that are listed on the +UP coupon. Multiple +UP coupons can be used (subject to the printed exclusions) up to the amount of purchase before sales tax.

Don't forget to pick up your store rewards card in order to get the deals!

CVS Coupon Policy

This was taken from an email sent from the corporate office:

Thank you for your e-mail regarding CVS/pharmacy coupon policy. I do apologize that each CVS/pharmacy you go to tells you something different.

Our registers are set to allow one CVS coupon and one manufacturer coupon per item.  However, the staff should be allowing customers to use Extra Bucks in combination with other CVS coupons since these are coupons you have “earned.”

In addition, they should be allowing the use of one “offer at the register” coupon which would be an open offer of $3 off of $15 or a certain dollar amount off of a specific item.  Since our registers are programmed to only accept two coupons (one CVS, one manufacturer) per item if the number of coupons exceed the items purchased a member of management will need to assist the cashier in processing the coupons.

CVS/pharmacy will accept coupons printed from the Internet.  They must have a legible barcode that scans at the register.  If the coupon does not scan at the register, the cashier should politely inform you that we are unable to accept your coupon.  We do not allow manual overrides at the register for coupons printed from the Internet.  CVS/pharmacy will not accept offers printed from unauthorized internet postings or reproductions, copies, or facsimiles.

When an item is on sale for buy one, get one free and the customer has a buy one get one free coupon for that same product, the coupon will be accepted and both items will essentially become free (plus any applicable sales tax).

Also, two manufacturer coupons can be used on a buy one get one free purchase as long as two items are scanned at the register.  The system logic sees two items scanned and will allow two coupons.

I have already notified the District Manager of that area concerning this matter and he will be speaking with the Store Manager and staff directly about the coupon policy.

Again, thank you for contacting us.  I hope this is helpful.  We value your patronage and look forward to serving you again soon.

Kroger Coupon Policy

Kroger's coupon policy has been pretty hard to track down, but I will provide the basics. You can access Kroger's print-at-home coupon policy here.

The Kroger Policy is pretty basic, it is as follows:

Buy One Get One (BOGO)
  • Each item rings up as half price and coupons can be applied to each item. You do not have to buy two items to get the deal.
Competitor's Coupons
  • Kroger does not accept them.
Coupon Doubling
  • Kroger doubles coupons up to $0.50 in the southeast.
  • In Ohio, Kroger doubles coupons up to $0.50, and any coupons from $0.51 to $1 are doubled up to $1.
Make sure you have a Kroger Plus Card, you do not get the advertised price and coupons won't double without it. Also register your card online in order to receive valuable mailed coupons from Kroger and to load eCoupons to your card. eCoupons are available on the Kroger.com website among other sites and are able to be loaded onto your card and used automatically when your card is scanned at checkout. These eCoupons do not double and cannot be combined with a paper coupon.

There are other websites that offer eCoupons that you can load to your shopper's card that do not necessarily follow the above guidelines. More about that later.

    Walgreens Coupon Policy

Walgreens sales are pretty consistent weekly across the country. So for all you lucky ducks that aren't in Atlanta, you can still benefit from my weekly Wags post.

Here is their official coupon policy. I STRONGLY recommend printing a copy to keep in your coupon binder, as from experience, their staff is composed of rude people who have no knowledge of the coupon policy and no business working in customer service. However, I refuse to let them stop me from the amazing deals their ads offer because I'm doing nothing wrong by couponing there. For those of you with a thinner skin who want to avoid a possible confrontation, you can always take the flyer to Walmart for price matching, provided the ad lists the sale price of the item at Walgreens.

The policy is as follows, as it appears on the Walgreens website, my commentary will be noted in (blue):

As a customer-focused retailer, Walgreens encourages the use of coupons by our customers in our retail stores, in accordance with the following guidelines.

    Guidelines:

    General

    • All valid coupons should be presented to the cashier at the time of checkout.
    • Walgreens does not accept expired coupons.
    • Coupons and their face value cannot be exchanged for cash or gift cards.
    • Competitor coupons are not accepted at Walgreens.
    • Walgreens cannot accept coupons for items not carried in our stores.
    • The number of manufacturer coupons, including Register RewardsTM manufacturer coupons, may not exceed the number of items in the transaction. The total value of the coupons may not exceed the value of the transaction. Sales tax must be paid, if required by state law. (This means only ONE manufacturer coupon per item. It does not apply to store coupons, which can be stacked with manufacturer coupons (MFQ).)
    • Any coupon offer not covered in these guidelines will be accepted at the discretion of Walgreens management.

    Sale Items

    • Walgreens will accept manufacturer coupons for an item that is on sale.
    • In the event that any item's selling price is less than the value of the coupon, Walgreens will only accept the coupon in exchange for the selling price of the item. Coupon redemption can never exceed the selling price of an item and no cash back is ever provided in exchange for any coupons.  (That means if you have a $3 off coupon for a $2.99 item, the coupon value will be adjusted down to $2.99, see below.)

    Multiple Coupons

    • When purchasing a single item, Walgreens accepts one manufacturer coupon and applicable Walgreens coupon(s) for the purchase of a single item, unless prohibited by either coupon offer.
    • The coupon amount must be reduced if it exceeds the value of the item after other discounts or coupons are applied. (For example, a $5.00 coupon for a $4.99 item will result in a $4.99 coupon value).
    • When purchasing multiple items, Walgreens accepts multiple identical coupons for multiple qualifying items as long as there is sufficient stock to satisfy other customers, unless a limit is specified. Management reserves the right to limit the quantity of items purchased. (This means don't be an asshole and clear the shelves because they might not let you buy it all.)

Buy One, Get One Free Coupons

    • When items are featured in a Buy One, Get One Free promotion, up to two coupons can be used against the items being purchased, as long as the net price does not go below zero for the items being purchased. (This means a BOGO coupon used during a BOGO sale renders both items as FREE, just pay sales tax.)
    • Sales tax must be paid for any Buy One, Get One Free coupon offers, if required by applicable state laws.

    Internet/Print at Home Coupons

    • Walgreens accepts valid internet/print at home coupons.

    Register RewardsTM coupons

    Earning Register RewardsTM
    • Register RewardsTM will only print for in-stock merchandise during the promotional period. (Rainchecks won't be applicable for the Register Rewards (RR) offered during the sale in which the raincheck was obtained for.)
    • Register RewardsTM can only be earned for eligible items. No substitutions.
    • There is a limit of one Register RewardsTM (RR) printed per offer per customer per transaction.
    • Customers redeeming a Register RewardsTM against the same offer may not receive another RR.
    Redeeming Register RewardsTM
    • Customers redeeming a Register RewardsTM against the same offer may not receive another RR.
    • Refer to Register RewardsTM coupon for expiration date.
    • The RR coupon value cannot exceed the total purchase amount. No cash back and no cash value for RR coupon.
    • The number of manufacturer coupons, including RR manufacturer coupons, must not exceed the number of items in the transaction. (If you're using a $3 RR for a $2.99 item, you're gonna have to buy a "filler," something to cover the rest of the RR. I usually use the 30 cent caramels next to the register.)
    • Register RewardsTM must be forfeited if the qualifying merchandise is returned.
    • Register RewardsTM cannot be used toward the purchase of gift cards and pre-paid cards.
    • Register RewardsTM can be redeemed for eligible items only. Ineligible items include but are not limited to:
      • Prescriptions
      • Tobacco products
      • Alcoholic beverages
      • Dairy products
      • Lottery tickets
      • Money orders/transfers
      • Transportation passes
      • Special event/entertainment tickets or passes
      • Postage stamps
      • Gift cards/phone cards/prepaid/Green DotTM cards
      • Prescription Savings Club" memberships
      • Health care services, including immunizations
      • Any items prohibited by law

    Publix OFFICIAL Coupon Policy

This was just released in light of the Extreme Couponing show and the coupon fraud promoted by one of the women on the show:

      • Publix accepts one Manufacturer Coupon per item
      • Publix accepts original Publix Coupons (no copies)
      • Publix accepts valid Internet Coupons
      • Publix accepts nearby Competitor Coupons (each Publix store will identify their competitors)
      • Publix accepts Competitor Pharmacy Coupons for prescriptions only.
      • Publix will not accept percent off coupons (percent off an item or percent off a total)
      • Publix accepts coupons for identical merchandise they sell
      • Publix acknowledges restrictions on the coupons (ie. one coupon per customer)
      • Publix reserves the right to limit quantities
      • Publix requires manager approval for coupons over $5 in value.
      • Publix recognizes each item as a separate purchase on a B1G1 sale. That means you can use two coupons (you have to sales or two items.) OR a BOGO coupon on a BOGO sale constitutes two free items.
      • On one item, you can use a manufacturer AND store coupon or competitor coupon (this is called stacking.
      • Publix accepts only one type of dollar off total coupons (ie. one $2 off $5 Bakery purchase)
      • “The order total must be equal to or greater than the total purchase requirements indicated on the coupon(s) presented.” (This statement is a little vague and thus can vary by cashier. This could mean no moneymakers or this could mean on a $5/$25 coupon you have a $25 purchase.)
Thanks Frugal Coupon Living, for the great summary.
