Bring Your Own Bags = Save Even More

Reusable bags are yet another way to get more bang for your buck and to help the environment. Think of it as a way to knock out some sales tax. Here are a few stores that offer deals and discounts for bringing in a reusable bag and the details on how to take advantage of the savings.

CVS – purchase a green bag tag from CVS and attach it to one of your reusable bags and each time you shop at CVS, have the cashier scan the tag, along with your CVS card when you check out. On every 4th scan, an ExtraCare Buck will print to use on your next purchase. The tags retail for $.99, but the big red coupon machine will periodically print out a coupon for a freebie. You can also opt to attach the tag to your keychain and carry out your purchase.

Target – $0.05 per bag (must be a reusable bag, not a plastic bag from a previous trip.)

Whole Foods – $0.05 – $0.10 per bag that you bring in, depending on the store. You can have the savings deducted from your total, or choose to donate to a charity.

Safeway: 10% discount on line of environmentally friendly home products when you use a Safeway "Bright Green" reusable bag.

Kroger: $0.04 per bag (check with your local store as some are phasing this offer out)
